Wally, Jewel and Ruby all came to Suruluna with mange. Mange is a skin disease of mammals caused by parasitic mites and occasionally communicable to humans. It typically causes severe itching, hair loss, and the formation of scabs and lesions.

The cost to treat these three sweet dogs, two of them puppies, was estimated around $3,000. The Tortorella Foundation agreed to match up to $1000 to help with the treatment. Suruluna raised the money, and the Tortorella Foundation matched it in February.
